Even though I'm a Flame Cat, the Fire nation is so full of dickery. And I hate their clothes. Earth benders not only have a fighting style that I prefer, but I love their clothes and the various characters we bumped into. ERT!!!
I think air suits me the best, which is the reason why I love it. I am a "go with the flow" person and everyone says i'm laid back. I love to listen to the wind, or sit in a field and feel it all around It's just so peaceful
I've always wanted to think of myself as a firebender because fire has always been "my" element, and truly was for most of my life, but I've really grown into the air element in the past some-odd years. So I think I'd be an airbender, but fire would be a close second ^^

I would probably be an Earth Bender because for one my astrological sign is Taurus, which is an Earth sign, and I am also very strong-willed and stubborn like Earth benders Although I would rather be a Water Bender <_< >_>
Yes, but it's always bound to a specific nation. Firebenders come from fire nation families, earth benders from the Earth Kindom, etc. Then, there are cases of interbreeding like Tenzin and his siblings, one airbender, one waterbender, and one non-bender from a cross between an airbender (an avatar by incarnation, but an airbender by blood) and a waterbender. If it really was a matter of personality you wouldn't see these obvious patterns

Yes that is a very good point, but if you notice each nation develops its own way of thinking and viewing the other nations, therefore fostering more of a certain nurtured personality. BUT, I am in no way saying that genetics does not play a huge role. It just seems like the Bending abilities only surface if there is a need for them like in Kitaras tribe. Kitara is the LAST water Bender from that Tribe, but yet there are still members of the Tribe alive to carry along the ability. But alas, I am a bit rusty on Avatar know-how, I haven't been able to watch it in a few months, perhaps someone else can come up with a better explanation for the phenomenon.
There are also very deviant personalities. The Sun Warriors have a completely different philosophy than the fire nation, there was that old woman who introduced blood bending, the swamp people who contrasted greatly with either water tribe. There are too many exceptions to suggest a connection with personality. The loose association seems to be a matter of culture, rather than birth
