Snake Matron

Another old painting from one of my last semester's in art school. This one's bigger than the last, and done in acrylics. Again, sorry for the photo quality. This one is WAY too big for my scanner, didn't feel like stitching together eight or more pieces in photoshop. XD

This was for a figure painting class in which we were encouraged to make fantastical illustrations from the model we were painting. Everyone was painting her as a priestess, or angel, or something else nice and pleasant. I thought it would rock if she was a Snake Master of some kind. While admittedly ominous looking, I hoped she would not look too evil, and instead appear to be more benevolent. As if she's the protector of her town or people come to her for the wisdom she gains from dealing with ancient reptiles.
